HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING (1945-2016)
PV: THURSDAY 20TH OCTOBER 6-8PM
OPEN: 21/10/2016 - 22/01/2017
The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art - Gallery 2
CFCCA, Market Buildings, 13 Thomas St, Manchester M4 1EU.

This exhibition centres around my audio piece - How I Learned to Stop Worrying (1945-2016) which has been updated to include recent nuclear tests. It presents a musical account of every officially recorded nuclear explosion using eight different instruments and musicians to represent each country that participated (scan the QR code to link to an excerpt) Accompanying the soundscape is a large cyanotype on silk, a silverpoint drawing on a wooden block, a miniature projection, paintings with bleach and the sculpture The Comrades (pictured below). This new work explores these fleeting moments of history and grapples with the propaganda films of the Chinese Government's nuclear tests in the Lop Nor Desert.
